The fantastic team from Gehl Architects reached out to 70 urban planners from 8 Latin American countries

For the first time ever, Gehl Architects 18-20 may held a Master Class outside of Copenhagen. A great cooperation between Gehl Architects, the Government of Argentina, the City of Buenos Aires, The Inter-American Development Bank and the embassies in Buenos Aires and Santiago made it happen.

The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs kindly opened the magnificent Palacio San Martín as venue for the Master Class.

The participants came from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay. During intensive three days, they dug deep into the Gehl philosophy of making cities for people, and they got hands-on inspiration for their home towns.

In a State of Green session led by the embassies, the participants learned about Danish green strongholds and met with six Danish companies, Danfoss, Grundfos, Haldor Topsøe, Novo Nordisk, Velux and Vestas, that gave an introduction to the solutions which they present to the challenges of modern cities.

Copenhagen is well known and admired in Latin America for its green solutions, not least in Buenos Aires, where Mayor Horacio Larreta mentions Copenhagen as a role model. Morten Kabell, Mayor for Technical and Environmental affairs in Copenhagen, was invited as a special guest and gave first hand introductions to Copenhagen, both at Master Class sessions, in bilateral meetings, and in the public events that were planned alongside the Master Class.
