The Danish Embassy in Buenos Aires is looking for part-time  staff members

Position:                               Two academic officer part time positions

Type of employment:        Part time employment for 2020 with the possibility of
                                                extension on a local contract

The Royal Danish Embassy in Buenos Aires has openings for two part-time positions in 2020. Depending on budget allocation and employment process time the positions are estimated to last approximately 9 months. The two positions may be extended for time-limited periods depending on authorities’ financial allocation for 2021 and forward as well as embassy organisation. Candidates may apply to fill both positions.

You will be working in a team of 10 employees. Particular tasks are highlighted below, however you will be expected to show the flexibility required for an optimal handling of the entire portfolio of the Embassy and thus be ready to contribute to handling tasks outside your own portfolio.



Main tasks and responsibilities for part-time programme officer Collaboration Buenos Aires-Copenhagen:


  • Act under the guidance of the Sector Counsellor
  • Translation between experts from Buenos Aires and Copenhagen
  • Elaboration of analyses
  • Logistical support for expert visits
  • Support Sector Counsellor with knowledge regarding culture, policy etc.
  • Plan and execute meetings with partnering institutions
  • Elaborate minutes from meetings
  • Elaborate project documentation in dialogue with partners

Main tasks and responsibilities for part-time academic officer general issues:

  • Political issues
  • Consular issues
  • Commercial issues
  • Administration (for instance legal issues)

Required qualifications for both positions: 


  • Relevant academic education at master level or above;
  • Good knowledge of Argentina, including political system and situation, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and possibly one or more provinces;
  • Good knowledge of Denmark and Danish culture;
  • Skilled in Spanish, English and preferably one of the Nordic languages;
  • Good social skills and ability to foster and maintain networks;
  • Ability to understand and use new information quickly and efficiently;
  • A high sense of responsibility and ability to plan and execute tasks;
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently as well as being a good team player;
  • Be very flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the Embassy;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under time pressure.

The part-time academic officer general issues must also have:

  • Interest in international policy areas e.g. climate change and human rights;
  • Interest in promoting commercial interests of Denmark and Danish companies;
  • Interest in assisting both Danish and Argentine citizens in consular matters.

Employment conditions


  • You will be offered part time employment for 2020 (with the possibility of extension) on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of Argentina;
  • Standard working hours will be 18,5 excluding lunch per week for each position;
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
